The Minto Island Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge, a project that’s been a vision of city and community leaders for three decades, has cleared one of its last obstacles.

Senate President Peter Courtney, D-Salem, on Friday morning visited five men who live at the Cascade Park Retirement Community in Woodburn. The men, all 91 or older, venture out on power scooters, wheelchairs or with walkers each weekday to watch the Highway 214 interchange construction project take shape.
